Summer in the Southern Alps is your invitation to plunge into the heart of a grandiose natural setting. Our Resort at Serre Chevalier has been transformed and completely redesigned around the theme of family sharing, reconnecting and well-being, opening up new perspectives on the mountains. Set off to conquer the pine forests and lakes, cycle down the slopes or take a rafting trip. There are plenty of experiences to be had in the Briançon valley. After exploring the region's exceptional heritage, don't miss the thermal baths at Monêtier for a unique moment of down-time with a panoramic view of the Ecrins.

Great summer week in the French Alps

5/55/5 • 29/8/2025

This summer we visited ClubMed Serre Chevallier in the French Alps. We decided for this resort because last year we enjoyed a week long stay at a nearby ClubMed Alpe D’Huez.

The resort has been recently renovated and you can see that its facilities are brand new and nicely designed. The rooms could have done with more storage space, but as it usually goes with ClubMed, the hotel rooms aren’t where one spends a lot of time during the stay.

The food in the resort is just top. We felt there was a lot of choice. Guiseppe was the Head Chef and I’d love to give him a lot of compliments for everything his team served. The pizza was the best one in ClubMed I’ve ever had 😊 !!!

Pierre-Jean is the Resort Manager and we thought he was an absolute power house. You see him everywhere. He’s amazing with the guests, makes you feel valued, he’s out there on stage of the shows, preparing breakfast, welcoming new arrivals, organising picnics outside of the resort. We sometimes felt there are two of him 😊 . Impressive.

The big themes of this holiday were the morning and afternoon hikes, road cycling and mountain-biking tours. There are external providers, such as that the guides are local certified guides. Most of them spoke good English and would explain to us what we were looking at. We much appreciated it. I have taken part in a couple of the mountain-bike tours for families with my 10yr old son. We loved it. It was so much fun! I then spoke to a few other guests who tried the road cycling tours and loved it, too.

There are tennis courts available and in a decent shape. The pool is also good for the kids to play around.

The room service was strangely not working very well despite us raising it. The room would have been cleaned very late in the day and in a way that didn’t make much sense, such as that our clothes would be thrown on the floor in the corner of the room, once we found the door to our room left entirely open, often the towels not replaced. Everything worked so well in the resort, so it was strange the room service happened to be so bad.

The resort is lovely. It’s not too big to make the visit impersonal, but big enough to offer a great choice of activities, great food variety and fun! Just to be aware of, and we had known this in advance, French is strongly pre-dominant language in this resort. Make it a consideration.

Another amazing week!

Another amazing week at a new Club Med with Pierre Jean and his management team. The club was nice and new and in a great location for easily exploring the station as well as many hikes and chair lifts. The Club has an amazing pool so it felt like both a Summer Club and a Mountain Club in one, which was a nice surprise. Sophie in rooms is second to none…so professional, lovely and always smiling. My kids love Killian and I truly believe he loves his job and it shows…he makes every interaction special. Shout out to both Paul’s at the bar who made great drinks! Lastly Chloe in Mini Club was super helpful and always smiling!

Rooms are large with great views and breakfast and lunch were amazing, dinner just average. Pierre Jean always made breakfast fun.

Lastly, the hikes! Not speaking French we were always nervous to do them but thanks to Sophie she convinced us to go and the guides were amazing and very inclusive!

Already looking forward to our return next year!
