Columbus Isle Bahamas

Club Med Columbus Isle is our favourite resort. Our stay Nov 12-19, 2024 was our stay #7.

We like the fact that it is not far from Montreal; Only 3.5 hour direct flight from Montreal on Air Canada Rouge chartered plane. The resort is 1 km away from a small airport on San Salvador Island. Lots of « regulars » walk from airport to the resort, and only have their luggage transported to the resort by Club Med buses.

We enjoyed our stay, even though we found that the food selection has decreased considerably over the years.(since 2008). No more amazing Brie and other cheeses from France.

Weather was very windy most days, and it affected resort’s food supply for couple of days. Thank you to Kitchen chef, who did all their best, to manage the unprecedented situation.

We attempted going on an island bike tour, but I found the available e-bikes too heavy, so I could not go, even though I am an active cyclist in Ottawa.

Overall, we still enjoyed our stay, meeting friendly new and « returning » guests, like ourselves.

I have just come back home from a diving trip to the Bahamas resort of CM - Columbus isle. Even after quite a few visits, this is still one of favourite resorts - visually stunning with the perfect beach and the white painted deckchairs and with a scuba pier that makes you wander whether you have accidentally walked onto a painting.
The GOs are very helpful and very friendly and although I was very happy to see some of the GOs I knew already from previous visits I have to praise the whole team - including the new recruits - for treating the guests like family. Special mention for the brilliant scuba team headed by JP, the fitness GOs Coco and Isaac for the many challenging classes I have attended during my stay, the amazing Charlotte for running the bar with skill and panache, Royce for the effort he put in to make sure all rooms were spotless, and of course the CdV Luca for his great hospitality and endless sense of humour.
My last evening at the resort ended with the customary get-together involving myself, Coco (fitness GO), Charlotte (bar manager) and even John (scuba instructor from the 2018 team who joined us virtually from afar) wearing black tie at a chilly beach bar and discussing stories I couldn’t possibly write on paper - with an espresso martini which did not have any coffee in it and some random customer from Paris who was complaining that the beach was too sandy. Or the ocean too watery. Certain things you just could not manufacture even if you tried. Thank you for a great week, guys!

It was my first trip alone and I loved it, everything was perfect thanks to the GO team, coup de cœur for Anna, Nico and Isaac ! Thank them for their kindness, their joie de vivre, memorable moments and for always being there when I needed it :)).

Wonderful resort with so many activities and joyful spirit from morning to night. The GO’s were amazing and so warm and helpful. Great and healthy food and even a sommelier! Julia, our sommelier, did an incredible job to help us get the perfect wine and was so kind and helped make our trip the best it could be. Kudos to all the amazing GO’s!!!!

Family trip the week of Thanksgiving. We had an amazing time! The food was delicious, the rooms comfortable and the staff were wonderful! The GM Luca is a wonderful host. Our group ranged from 10 to 75 years old. We swam, snorkeled, ate, drank, danced and laughed the entire time. There was something to do for everyone.
Highly recommend the scooter tour with Jerry. He took us all over the island, showed us all the hidden gems and shared the island history. Make sure you check out the gift shop, they have a great stylist!
